Annual Review 2011
We’re looking back on a year filled with anniversaries. Jim Morrison had
died 40 years ago, The Doors had been recording their legendary debut
album 45 years ago, and we from The Doors Experience celebrated our
tenth anniversary at the Reigen club in Vienna, with almost all of our
former band members attending.
For Jim’s 40th anniversary of his death we played two huge
concerts, which were crowded by 3000 plus fans each, on at the
Sparkassenpkatz in Innsbruck /Tyrol, the other at the big Lent Festival
in Maribor / Slovenia. A few weeks before that we had a crowd of more
than 1000 in the heart of Vienna. More excellent concerts in many a new
location were played in Zagreb, Spielfeld, Saalfelden, Timelkam, on an
old castle called Stixenstein. We played the Bergamo area in Italy again
and had harp players John Lee Harper and Cesar join us for Roadhouse
Blues and a few other tunes on stage.
The tour 2011 came to a closure once again in Innsbruck and Zurich with
our legendary New Year’s Eve show at the re-launched Alte Kaserne,
attended by fans from all over Europe and more.
For
professional reasons our bass player Jürgen Schaupp could not play most
of this year’s concerts. That is why we switched our line-up to that of
the Doors’ live shows in the 1960, with Klaus playing all the bass parts
on the bass keyboard. So from now on we are a four piece concentrating
on the very sound of the Doors’ live albums. Anyway thanks to Jürgen and
all other former bass players we had.
Due to many requests we had our fan
t-shirts
also produced in 6 small sizes for children, whereas 7 sizes for
grown-ups from S to 4XL are available as well. Plus we had a second
button designed, showing our lead singer Jason. T-Shirts and buttons are
available at our concerts or just write an e-mail to presse@thedoors.at
A lot is happening on our youtube-site
www.youtube.com/baronlejois,
where our songs have been downloaded about 700.000 times up to now. Our
video of Break On Through recorded in Zagreb has been downloaded about
220.000 times now.
www.myspace.com/thedoorsexperience
have risen enormously once more. At the end of the year we counted 2.7
million downloads.
Plus there is a whole lot going on at
www.facebook.com/doors.experience where most of the new concert pics
can be found. Plus contests and rare video clips, which are not even on
youtube.
We are looking forward to seeing you again during our tour 2012!.

December 20th, 2011 |
On Friday, March 2nd we were booked by the Röda club in Steyr / Upper
Austria for the second time. We played our fist concert there in 2009.
Croatian fans don’t have to wait until May. Instead of May 19th we
will play our very frst concert at the new club Hard Place in Zagreb on
Friday, March 30th, 2012. The very next day, March 31st, we will be at
the Club Stereo in Rijeka, a place in which we had played an entirely
sold out concert to a great crowd three years ago.
And for those who want to attend our upcoming concert in Innsbruck on
December 30th, there is good news: it will be a free concert. So make
sure you are there in time!

On our
Facebook page
we have uploaded galleries of all our latest concerts. Thanks, Tihana
Resch for taking these excellent shots.
Tihana is also responsible for filming us at the Almenno Rock
Festival. The footage was now edited by Jason Boiler into a
nice new video, which is on youtube.
As 2011 comes to a close we will play a free concert at the Innsbruck
Treibhaus on Dec. 30th and yet another “The Doors Celebration” New
Year’s Eve show in Zurich - tickets for which can be obtained
here.
For 2012 concert tour negotiations go ahead quite well.
Dates for a Valentine’s Day show at the
Szene Vienna, a concert in Zagreb plus the headlining of a big festival
near the Austrian-Hungarian border are already confirmed.

August 18th, 2011 |
On this very day in history 45 years ago, August 18th 1966, a young band
from L.A. signed their first contract with Jac Holzman’s then new label
Elektra Records. A week later they recorded what was to be their debut
album “The Doors” with producer Paul A. Rothchild and sound engineer
Bruce Botnick at Sunset Sound Studios. The album was issued in January
1967 and is arguably the most important debut album in music history. It
is so strong, that we have all its 11 songs in our live repertoire.
The opening track on “The Doors” is “Break On Through”. Our
2007 live version from Zagreb has been
watched about 200.000 times on youtube.

Jason Boiler hand selected and compiled footage from our headlining spot
at the Ambria Music festival and put in on
youtube.

July 7th, 2011 |
We played for at least 5000 fans last weekend at big open air festivals
in Innsbruck and Maribor. You can find pictures, clip and further
information on all this at our
Facebook site.
Up next is our very first concert at the lovely castle Stixenstein in
Lower Austria on July 16th. You can obtain cheap pre-sale tickets
here.
There is also a recent
press review from Slovenia.

May 13th, 2011 |
Two videos are new on
youtube: Indian Summer, filmed in
Apetlon, and Break On Through, live from Zagreb in April 2011. For both
shows Klaus played keyboard bass, just like The Doors did in the 1960s.
3 new concert dates have been added: on June 5th we will play a free
festival at the Vienna Donaukanal, on July 22nd we will be headlining
the Ambria Music Festival (near Bergamo, Italy) for the third time.
Pics of our 10 years anniversary concert at the Vienna Reigen club plus
another gallery comprised of photos from our concert at the Kunsthalle
Nexus in Saalfelden, have been put on-line on
facebook. Thanks, Tihana Novosel for
taking the pictures.
|
April 12th, 2011 |
Facebook galleries from Zagreb,
Spielberg and Apetlon have been put on-line. Thanks, Tihana Novosel!
We played these two concerts also exactly in the original Doors’ live
line-up, that is, Klaus also played keyboard bass.
On the 40th anniversary of Jim’s death we will play on a big festival in
Maribor, called the LENT Festival, alongside the likes of Jimmy Cliff,
Monster Magnet, Trilok Gurtu and the late Joe Zawinul’s band Syndicate.
Our own 10th anniversary will be celebrated at the Vienna Reigen on May
3rd with some special surprises for you all.
|
March 27th, 2011 |
New galleries of our latest concerts
have been put on-line on Facebook. Thanks, Tihana Novosel.
New concert dates have been added: On July 2nd we will play a
huge open-air-concert in Innsbruck, where the film “When You’re Strange”
will be shown on a large screen right before our show.
New press reviews have been put
on-line.

February 29th, 2011 |
In 2008 and 2009 we were topping the bill of the Almenno Rock Festival
near Bergamo. About 3000 fans were there every year. In 2011, a big year
for The Doors, we are looking forward to returning to Almenno San
Salvatore on Saturday, Sept. 3rd.
|
February 16th, 2011 |
On April 8th, we won’t play in Klagenfurt / Carinthia as originally
scheduled, but in Zagreb again. This year’s concert there will be in a
new location, the
MOČVARA Club.
|
January 16th, 2011 |
Loads of new concert dates have been added for 2011. Just have a look at
our
Tour Dates page. There is also
information on where to purchase tickets – for many of these dates.
Two new video clips have been put on-line on youtube, both from Slovenia
and featuring our new drummer Gerhard: a
Medley from our Celje performance and “Who
Do You Love” filmed in Murska Sobota and featuring a dance
routine by Klaus.

Annual review 2010
As usual we started our 10th year of touring as THE DOORS EXPERIENCE in
Zurich at the New Years Eve Doors Celebration with hundreds of
enthusiastic fans, who came from all Swiss counties, France, Germany,
Western Austria, Italy, France, Croatia and other countries. But this
time we didn’t play in the Alte Kaserne, but in the very famous
Volkshaus Zurich (where Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger had played
themselves 3 years ago with Riders On The Storm).
Same procedure as every year: The Zagreb Boogaloo was packed with the
most frenetic crowd. The same went for MMC Salvija, a former cinema in
Osijek. The only sad fact is, that our big flag with our band logo on it
has disappeared without a trace after the Osijek show. We are pretty
sure that it now decorates an enthusiastic fan's bedroom.
In summer we played as headliners on the “Feast of Friends”, Europe’s
biggest Doors festival again. The day before we had a totally sold out
concert in Halle.
On two concerts in Vienna we had John Lee Harper joining us on blues
harp for Roadhouse Blues and Gloria.
Our new drummer Gerhard Tscherwizek, a long-term friend of the band and
especially Klaus and René, who he played with frequently over the past
20 years. replacedd our dear Christoph Zauchinger, who withdrew from
playing live after almost 10 years in this group and almost 20 years of
playing alongside Jason and Klaus.

A lot is happening on our youtube-site
www.youtube.com/baronlejois,
where our songs have been downloaded more than half a million times up
to now. Download figures of songs on
www.myspace.com/thedoorsexperience
have risen enormously once more. At the end of the year we counted 2.7
million downloads. Plus there is still Tihana’s Official Doors
Experience Fan Site on myspace and our
Facebook-Fanseite,
where most of the new concert pics can be found. Plus contests and rare
video clips, which are not even on youtube.
We are looking forward to seeing you again during our tour 2011, which
is going to be a remarkable year. 40 years ago Jim died under mysterious
circumstances, 45 years ago The Doors recorded their legendary
self-titled debut album, an finally 10 years ago The Doors Experience
started playing live.
