2004 in retrospect |
Our 2004 tour brought us
to concerts in Slovenia, Italy and Switzerland for the first time.
Germany, Croatia and several regions of Austria were also on the agenda
just like the year before. We are extremely proud to have gained an
exclusive contract with one of Switzerland’s most reknowned concert
promoters, which will secure us (and you) at least four concerts in
Switzerland during the year 2005.
Our website
www.thedoors.at has been enriched by
loads of mp3s, vidoes, press reviews and photos in 2004. Amidst all that
is an mp3 of Roadhouse Blues – a live recording from the
Hungarian-Austrian Picture-On-Festival 2003, where The Doors Experience
played alongside well-known artists like Attwenger, Hansi Lang, Harri
Stojka, Lynne Kieran, Halluciantion Company and many others. For
promoters and journalists we installed a special service area (info\index_en.htm),
which is always up to date.
We also expanded our repertoire again in 2004. Some of the newly
highlights are Ghost Song from American Prayer or the Doors’ version of
Van Morrison’s anthem Gloria.
In summer 2004 our bass player Hermann Draxler had to quit because of an
ever growing time schedule. A new bass player was quickly found in
Martin Plangl, an excellent jazz musician and Doors fan. He worked very
hard (with some assistance by Hermann Draxler – thanks for that) to
learn all the songs. Hermann played his last gig with us in Postojna/Slovenia
on the big biker festival of the “No Name Riders”. We kept good company
with him, which is why Hermann re-entered the stage with us during the
concert for Jim’s 61st birthday to play on of his fabourites with us:
Touch Me.
Besides many successful appearances in Austria, the big highlights were
the concerts in Zagreb, Luzern, Berg and Brunico. Plus Heidelberg, where
our concert was the meeting place for the German Doors fans. By the way
we’d like to thank Uwe Huhn, Jürgen Bamberg, Gernot Freundeberger and
all the others who are so supportive in Germnay.
Our guitarist René surprised us all with a brand new original Gibson SG,
just like Robby played it in the 1960s. In summer René also parted with
his long hair, which was also a big surprise for both bandmates and fans.
The last two days of the year were big successes in Lienz / Eastern
Tyrol and Zurich, where we welcomed the year 2005 with Hello I Love You.
In retrospect: 2004 was a very good year for The Doors Experience. The
promoters did an excellent job (with the odd exception) and the amount
of fans could be raised further.
We’ll start 2005 with new energy and look forward to many concerts we
can celebrate together with you. Tour dates are rushing in and the vast
amount of e-mails, letters and guestbook entries will make 2005 another
succesful year. |

Here is the good news for
our fans in Switzerland and Western Austria: We have just signed a
contract with Pino Quaresima of
www.thedoorscelebration.ch that
includes 4 concerts in Switzerland a year.
We’ll play Pino’s hometown of Zurich on New Years Eve. You can already
order
tickets here.
Tickets for our concert in Leoben on December 5th are also available,
just visit
www.kulturkeller.at
And finally here’s a little fun thing for you all:
Who's not familiar with the legendary live version of "The End", in
which Jim improvises this poem:
Ode to
a grasshopper...
I think I'll open a little shop,
A little place where they sell things
And I think I'll call it "Grasshopper"...
I have a big green grasshopper out there
Have you seen my grasshopper,
mama?
Looking real good...
|
Klaus actually found a shop called grasshopper in Brussels. |

atmosphere that was felt both in the auditory and on stage perfectly.
Pics of our concert in Tulln will be available soon.
Our concert for Jim's birthday this december at Vienna's Hawidere is so
well-booked even now one month befor it takes place, that we decided to
celebrate the next important date there as well. In addition to
celebrating 40 years of the Doors in all of 2005, we want to celebrate
the 36th anniversary of the Miami Incident (http://www.doors.com/miami/one.htm)
on March 1st at the Hawidere club with a very special evening including
videos etc.

Some
press reviews
have been added as well. |
Oct. 17th,
2004 |
On Friday 15th our new
bass player Martin Plangl played his first Vienna concert with us. It
happened at the “Hawidere” club, where there is always a great party
when we play. The same goes for for this evening. Martin received a warm
welcome by our very regular Hawidere fan community. Plus we all had
loads of fun too. Pics are coming up. |
Oct. 11st,
2004 |
This friday we play at
Vienna's
Hawidereclub again. We highly recommend you to book a table
by phone (+43 / 664 / 150 84 29) or via

called a "Sixties Party" again, so mini-skirts, high heels and paisley
shirts are welcome! If you miss this, nobody can help you! |
Sept. 29th,
2004 |
Just as promised here are
the
photos
of our concert in Glauchau / Germany plus a new
press
review. |
Sept. 26th,
2004 |
Right back from Glauchau /
Germany we saw, that our dear friend Uwe Huhn already posted a
report and loads of pictures of last
night's concert. Thanks, Uwe.
It was also Uwe who brought along the almost entire Doors Club of
Berlin's Soul Kitchen Doors pub to Glauchau. They made this concert
unforgettable for us.
Our official pictures will be made available soon.

Sept. 14th,
2004 |
The „Kulturschmiede“ in
Gresten is a beautiful hall to play in. After the two cancelled concerts
we played there, and it was marvellous because of the many dancing fans
in front of stage. We delivered a three hours show, which you can see
pics of here.
For October 30th details are worked out now. We play (supported by a
support act tba) at the Pfarrsaal Regau near Vöcklabruck / Upper
Austria. This is the substitutional date for the open air concert of
August 27th. Tickets are still valid, if you enter the location before 8
pm. Additional tickets (for just 7 Euro-bucks) can be bought at
the Bank Austria. Due to limitations of the hall, the promoter Andreas
Willstorfer asks you to mail him via
wiiii1310@yahoo.de.
For our next concert at the
legendary "Alte Spinnerei" in Glauchau/Germany tickets can be
ordered here
or by phone: +49
37 204/26 43.
|
Sept. 4th,
2004 |
And now there's some good
news: the replacement date for the open air festival concert in Timelkam
has come in. The gig will be held on October 30th in a hall in Regau.
More details to come.
We are looking forward to playing our very first concert at the "Kulturschmiede"
in Gresten
on Saturday, the 11th of September. You can order
tickets here
or by phone: +43/74 87/23 10 17. We'll see you there. |
Sept. 3rd,
2004 |
Today's concert in Faak/Carinthia
has been cancelled by the promoter.
We were already on the way to
Carinthia when Klaus called to ask him how we could enter the festival
site of the European Biker Week. Bugsy told us he wanted to cancel the
concert. We are very angry about that, being told in the very last
minute. And we are very sorry for those of you who went to Carinthia to
see us. We are ready to set legal measures against the promoter.
|
August 30th,
2004 |
Our guitarist René Galik ist
getting better day by day. He likes to say thank you to the many of you
who wished him well.
We hope he's ready to rock
again this friday, September 3rd, because we'll be playing in Faak on
the Faaker Lake during the big Harley-Davidson meeting (European Biker
Week) at a club called "Bugsy", close to the lake. If you want to book a
table there or something, just dial +43 / 664 / 92 19 356.
|
August 27th,
2004 |
Our guitarist René has
been taken ill. Therefore THE DOORS EXPERIENCE cannot take part in
today's festival in Timelkam / Upper Austria. The festival will take
place nevertheless. Please keep your tickets, because they will
guarantee you free entry at a substitutional concert wchich will take
place in Autumn at the Culture Club in Pichlwang! We will tell you the
exact date of the concert soon! We wish for René to get well soon! |
August 26th,
2004 |
Out of a huge amount of
pics of our
Postojna
concert we have selected some for you. One thing you can hardly see in
the pictures is the heavy rain during our performance. One thing you can
see, but for the last time, is our bass player
Hermann Draxler, who played his very
last concert with us in Postojna.
|
August 20th,
2004 |
In a few days they will be
here: the pictures of our concert in Postojna. As already stated, this
was the last concert with our bass player
Hermann Draxler. Goodbye Hermann, we
wish you well!
From now on
Martin Plangl
will be "Ray Manzarek's left hand". You can find him on our navigation
bar on the left as well as in our "cult
photo" on our start page.
New band pics have also been taken, one of which you can see here.
Another new item on our navigation bar is the "Newsletter" page. If you
still don't get our (German)
newsletter
, feel free to subscribe now.
Tickets for our next concert on August 27th can be bought at your
nearest "Bank Austria".
|
August 9th,
2004 |
It was raining cats and
dogs while
Hermann Draxler played his last concert
with THE DOORS
EXPERIENCE
last Saturday. Nevertheless the band and the audience had a great time
in the mysteriously lit "Stonehenge" near Postojna, where the big biker
festival was held. Some mud scenes brought Woodstock to mind.
Some new
press reviews were added. |
August 2nd,
2004 |
As you all could see on July 31st in Wieselburg (if
you have been there) we have a new bass player. His name is
Martin Plangl and
you can learn more about him
here. Thanks to
Hermann who had to leave for good because his other group has so many
concert dates too now.
|
July 20th,
2004 |
As promised, we had a
surprise for you at our concert in Apetlon last weekend.
|
It was not the
enormous heat (which was neither ordered nor brought along by us) but
René's matching haircut. He looks oh so sweet, doesn't he? |
|
René before |
|
René after |
If you don't
believe it, just have a look at the
pictures that were taken at Apetlon's
"Back to the Roots" club.
The next big surprise for all of you will be presented at our open air
gig in
Wieselburg on July 31st. We hope the
weather will be fine. The promoter Christoph Tazreiter is looking
forward to your reservation by mail via zwutschkerl@wibs.at or by phone
+ 43 / 664 / 52 25 986.
On New Year's Eve we will play Switzerland again. Our friends of "The
Doors Celebration" team booked us for a very special event in Zurich,
during which you can "ride" into the year 2005 with us.
|
July 13th,
2004 |
We play Apetlon in
Burgenland this weekend for the very first time. The club called "Back
to the Roots" booked us and we are
looking forward to the
concert.
|
July 9th,
2004 |
A load of
pics
of our concert at Vienna's Camera Club are on-line. We all had a very
good time and like to thank the many fans who came despite the concert
taking place so late in the evening in the middle of the week.
The concert in Nagold/Germany has been cancelled. The promotor was
unable to organise the concert. We regret that.
|
June 28th,
2004 |
Jim Morrison died 33 years
ago. To commemorate his death we will play a special concert at Vienna's

for sure on this
very special occasion please send us an e-mail.

Pics of our second Heidelberg concert
are online. Some of the most famous German Doors fans were there: Jürgen
Bamberg AKA
www.jimlizardking.de saw us for the
very first time. Peter Linde, manager of Doors tribute band Love Street
and Gernot Freudenberger (www.happymountain.de)
came to see us for the second time. And our true "LizardQueen" Anne Ruf
was also there. They all were impressed by our performance and said so
in their
guestbook
entries and also on their own homepages.
See
Gernot's,
Jürgen's and
Anne's thoughts (German).
Even Austrian fans took the long journey to Heidelberg to see us there.
Thanks for doing so!
The concert itself was even more successful than last year. A full house,
a crowded dancefloor right from the very start of the highly extended
concert.
A press review from a big German newspaper "Mannheimer Morgen"
is also on-line.
This weekend our tour continues with our very first two
concerts
in Switzerland, namely in Luzern and the Swiss capital Bern. We are
looking forward to the shows. Please remember to buy the tickets on
time!
|
May 18th,
2004 |
To us onstage, our
second concert at Zagreb’s Rock Club Pauk looked and felt the same as
last year: party time, the crowd singing along with each and every song,
freaky dancing and a very young audience! Great!
René surprised the fans as well as us bandmates with his brand new
original Gibson SG, the very guitar Robby Krieger played in the sixties.
The whole experience was documented extensively by Hans B. & Lady Jane.
Outtakes of the video footage will be aired soon,
pics
are already on-line.
The Zagreb promoters are very interested in having us play there in 2005
again. We are looking forward to doing so.
Our next appearance in Vienna at the inner city club “Krah, Krah” on
June 12th is a free concert. Therefore many of the tables are already
booked. You should call as soon as possible, if you are interested in
having a seat there:
+43 1 533 81 93.
|
May 13th,
2004 |
Just in time before our
second concert at Zagreb's Rock Club Pauk, we put another video-clip
from last year's concert online. As an appetizer for all of you, but
espacially for our Croatian fans, we bring you
When The Music's Over.
Plus we also added some stuff to
Other Links.
We can confirm another
concert date
for July - at the legendary
Roots Club in Apetlon, Burgenland - the
eastmost region of Austria.
|
May 10th,
2004 |
Our
bass player Hermann – a nurse-in-training – gave us an opportunity to
play a gig in the Nurse’s training school of Lainz / Vienna last Friday.
It was a great pleasure for Hermann and the whole band to play for
Hermann’s collegues and to celebrate the school's 80th anniversary all
together. Have a look at the concert
pics
here and you can picture that Vienna’s future nurses are never too sick
for a good party…
New
concert dates
were added: Nagold near Stuttgart in July and an open-air gig at the
ancient ruin of castle Altwartenburg (Upper Austria) in August.
This Saturday we play the Rock Club Pauk in the
university of Zagreb for the second time.
We just received
brandnew
press reviews from
Bosnia
and
Croatia
about the concert. We are looking forward
to meeting you there!
|
April 28th,

partytime at our concert in Markt Piesting. A full house and loads of
action in front of the (and on) stage. That's the way we all like it!
Pics to prove it were taken by
Helmut Riedl
and our very own
Hans B.
In May Austrian fans won't see too much of us, as we have Zagreb,
Heidelberg, Luzern and Bern on our agenda (see
tour plan).
Anyway, if you plan too come to these concerts, get your tickets as soon
as possible!

marvellous time. On this occasion we'd like to thank Robert Tichy for
taking these beautiful

We played "Ghost Song" live for the very first time, plus we also did
"My Eyes Have Seen You" for the first time in Vienna.
By the way: if you want to hear a certain song at one of our concerts
for sure please let us know which one. Our

Our tour start 2004 has been more than
successful. We played full houses in Lienz and Bruneck, we finally
cracked the Eastern Tyrol and the north of Italy. We are especially
thankful for the warm reception and the extraordinary team in
Bruneck's UFO
Some pics of the
Lienz
and
Bruneck
concerts are online.
Loads of
press reviews
have come in, amidst them a report by the Tyrolean TV.
To keep
these press reviews complete, we’d like to ask your help. If you find
something about us in the press, that is not on our page, please let us
know or scan it and mail
(doors@thedoors.at)
it to us.
If you
took any pictures of THE DOORS EXPERIENCE on one of our concerts, why
not share your memories with the whole world? Send
(Contact)
us a CD-ROM or the original pics or mail them, if it’s not too much
data. When we publish them on our site we will surely add your name to
them.
Some
more
concerts
have been fixed for this year. Our first appearance at the legendary
Harley meeting in Carinthia on September 3rd and our debut in
Tulln’s “Arts Workshop”
|
February 15th, 2004 |
This weekend marks
the start of our
European Tour 2004. We start in Lienz on February 20th
and continue in Bruneck / Southern Tyrol the very next day. You can see
the new songs we added to
repertoire
here.
For the 29th of May we were booked for our first concert in Switzerland,
where we play on of the country's most reputed music clubs, the
"Schüür" in Luzern.
On April 23rd we were asked to play
Jimmy's Musik-Café in Markt Piesting once again.
Our
mp3 section was totally revamped, many songs were added, others have
undergone further remastering.
Our appearance at the half Austrian half Hungarian Picture-On Ferstival
last summer has led to a CD release. The promoters KUKUK brought out an
album comprising songs by Attwenger, Hansi Lang, Harri Stojka, Lynne
Kieran, The Halucination Company and many others, on which we are
featured with our live rendition of Roadhouse Blues. You can listen to a
bit of that performance in our mp3 section as well. On this occasion our
thanks go out
to technician Otmar Weber, who recorded us there and
passed on the entire tape to us.
We also had new photographs
taken these days, one of which you can see here. |
January
27th, 2004 |
Please note the new night blue design of our
forum. Don’t get the blues though - you better join the nice
forum community. While the design has changed all previous entries are
still there.
We proudly can confirm now the date of our 2nd
concert in Zagreb/Croatia. It is fixed for May 15th 2004
(see
Tour Dates). As our first gig in Zagreb’s rock club PAUK was a
great success last year, we are happy to please our Croatian fans with
an encore this year.
Another concert location in Austria has been added on
our tour programme: in June we will play the legendary KIK in Ried
(Upper Austrian culture club) for the first time.
Our special goody this time is another
new mp3 file on the website: „When The Music Is Over“
(see
CDs &
mp3-Soundfiles). As
usual we appreciate your feedback to our mp3files and any other
innovations on
www.thedoors.at
|
January
19th, 2004 |
Some of our
mp3-files
have been reworked or remastered, many new ones have been added. Don’t
forget to write your opinion into our
guestbook
as soon as you have listened to them.
Tour dates
for 2004 are frequently added. Our spin-off concert is in Lienz /
Eastern Tyrol. You should book a table or get your tickets via
+43 / 48 52 / 65 822 or +43 / 664 / 13 15
031 or

Our second Heidelberg concert has been
fixed, and we were also booked for Vienna’s legendary “Krah, Krah” club
for another date in June. There are new press links and an all new
service area for promoters and press you can surf to via

Dear fans, dear
event-partners,
New Year's eve is over - time to start
another year together with The Doors Experience. With the best wishes
for a happy new year to you we start year No.4 of our Doors project, and
it hopefully will be an excellent time. After concerts in Austria,
Croatia and Germany in 2003 our plan for 2004 is the big move to Europe.
Being committed to the original Doors sound we want to cross boarders
and "enter the doors"
to many other European countries. As you can see, some gigs are already
published on our website, others will follow. And wherever we go -
Doors-Fans will find us and we will find them, don't worry! We thank you
for your great support during the last year and invite you to have a
look at our "review 2003" below.
Good luck,
The Doors Experience |

2003 in retrospect |
The third year of our
existence marked another important step in our carreer: concerts outside
Austria. We are espacially proud of these concerts being so successful,
tool: more than thousand enthusiastic fans in Zagreb, and a host of
well-known German Doors fans and experts at our concert in Heidelberg.
We also played the east-most and the west-most counties of Austria, we
shared the stage with Hansi Lang, Harri Stolka, Lyyne Kieran and the
Hallucination Company at the Picture-on Festival. Plus we played
Europe’s biggest open air, Vienna’s Danube Island Festival, where we
appeared on one of the largest stages. Plus we also had an unforgettable
night celebrating Jim’s 60th birthday.
With Herman Draxler, who joined us in December 2002, we haven’t just
simply found a tallented, energy loaden bass player, but also a friend
you can rely on. Not only did he learn all the songs from our repertoire,
we were also able to add 8 Doors songs to our current set list.
2003 also marked a change concerning our website. New webmaster Hans
Böhm took over the design and programming of www.thedoors.at, which
started to flourish through his magic hands. He added loads of new and
essential features to our site, like the
video clips,
the
news section and
much more. He also revamped all the other parts of the site and made it
more attractive and comfortable.
We will continue to work hard in 2004, that’s what we promise. If you
take a look at the tour dates of our
European Tour 2004,
you will seethat we will push our limits even forward. We’d like to
thank you for your support and hope you will continue to come to our
concerts and help spread the word of Jim and The Doors. Happy New Year
from "THE DOORS EXPERIENCE"! |
