Annual Review 2006

As almost usual by now we started our 6th year of touring as THE DOORS EXPERIENCE in Zurich at the New Years Eve Doors Celebration with about 700 enthusiastic fans, who came from all Swiss counties, Germay and Western Austria.

In early January we played the Objekt 5 in Halle/Saale (Germany), which had been sold out weeks before. Also to a more than excited audience, which led to our being booked for the top location once more for July 2006.

Concerts in the best of Austrian clubs (Planet Music Vienna, Treibhaus Innsbruck, Kammgarn Hard etc.) plus various gigs abroad (Zagreb/Croatia, Luzern & Frauenfeld/Switzerland and our long awaited first Bavarian concert in the tightly packed club Metropolitain Traunstein) paved our way through the year, the penultimate appearance being once more our headlining at the huge German Doors festival “Feast of Friends” in Heyrothsberge near Magdeburg. Thanks to those who came from near and far to see us there.

During another concert in the German Saarland we had a guest appearance by non other than Darryl Read who jammed and rapped with us for quite a while during our rendition of Gloria. Darryl, who has already released three albums in collaboration with Ray Manzarek, inofficially dubbed us “Most Excellent Doors Tribute Band” that night.

We put some new mp3s on-line, which were downloaded in enormous quantities. One example: The Doors hits “L.A. Woman”, "Riders On The Storm", "Light My Fire" and "The End" had almost a million downloads between August 3rd 2006 and January 3rd 2007! (http://www.myspace.com/thedoorsexperience) An American fan from L.A. has programmed this page for us. (Thanks, Gemma!)

In April we had a video to “Break On Through” filmed by two young, promising Austrian filmmakers. The video is also on-line and proves Jason’s charisma as Morrison performer once more on this media, too.

Like every year we stacked up our repertoire again. In 2006 we added "We Could Be So Good Together", "Universal Mind" and "You’re Lost Little Girl" - goodies we enjoy playing as much as the audience enjoys us perform them.

Towards the end of the year we’ve got done, what our fans have been waiting for quite while. We proudly present the Doors Experience T-Shirt. If you are interested write to presse@thedoors.at or talk to us after our concerts.

We enter our 7th year of touring highly motivated and promise you more and energy-driven Doors shows for 2007.

Dec. 29th, 2006 Just as promised a gallery of our last concert at the Metropolitain (Traunstein/Bavaria) is on-line now.

Dec. 23rd, 2006 Our Bavarian fans had their first opportunity to hear us live inside the fully crowded club Metropolitain in Traunstein. Pics are coming up.

News from the US has it, that The Doors will be presented a lifetime Grammy award alongsinde Joan Baez and The Greatful Dead in 2007. Congratulations!

Dec. 6th, 2006 A crowded room and loads of spontaneous ovations were the features of our concert in Hard / Vorarlberg on November 25th. Waltraud Marsoner captured the spirit on a few pictures.

Nov. 12th, 2006 "Kultur am Land" is a non-profit culture club in the lowlands of the Tyrol (Buch near Jenbach). They booked us for April 14th, 2007.

Oct. 25th, 2006 Jason has been reviewing the audio and video tracks of our concert recording during the private performance in Purkersdorf to check out further plans with the tapes. Waltraud dropped by to take a few pictures, so that you can also see first impressions of the concert movie to be here.

Oct. 24th, 2006 True to the line "The West is the best" we will be playing the culture club Kammgarn in Hard on the Bodensee for the second time on November 25th.

Our German fans in and aroud Heidelberg will have the chance to see us again at the Schwimmbad-Music-Club on May 25th next year. Plus the day after we will play at one of the hippest locations in Upper Austria these days, the Spinnerei in traun, where Nazareth, The Flying, Pickets, The Dubliners and The Exploited also give their concerts.

On June 23rd we will play Salzburg again - our seconcd concert at the Mark.

Oct. 10th, 2006 One of our rare private gigs we gave last Saturday in an extraordinary location, the "Seminardom Wienerwald", which has sensationell acoustics and a gorgeous design.

Some excellent light and sound men plus camera operators were there to capture us playing live.

We've put together a few pics of the event plus our setlist here.

Oct. 5th, 2006 New dates have been added for 2007. We will play reknowned culture club KIK in Ried (Upper Austria) for the second time. Also another concert in the Yum Yum  club in Amstetten (Lower Austria) is planned.

Sept. 6th, 2006 In April 2006 we bumped into musician and beat poet Darryl Read for the second time. After we had met him at the "Feast of Friends" in 2005, we met again on the "Doors of Perception" festival in April 2006. When we performed "Gloria" there, Darryl entered the stage and jammed with us. We all enjoyed ourselves, so did the audience. Darryl Read has released two albums as a duet with Doors founding member Ray Manzarek, who he is again in the studio with these days to work on new stuff.

Darryl has pictures of his collaboration with us on his website, right next to recent pics that show him with his friend Ray. (Just scroll down).

July 26th, 2006 New concert dates have been added: our first concert in Bavaria will take place on December 16th in Traunstein / Chiemgau. Reknowned club Metropolitain holds its annual "Tribute to Jim Morrison Night" to commemorate Jim's birthday. This time it's for us to headline the show. An ideal location for fans from Salzburg to come to, too.

In January 2007 it will be 40 years that "The Doors" has been released, without much doubt the most outstanding album debut by a band ever. To commemorate this event we will play the Planet Music Vienna once more on January 26th.

July 21st, 2006 The eagerly awaited gallery of the Feast of Friends open-air festival in Magdeburg is on-line.

....A feast of friends, alive she cried, waitin' for me....outside!!

July 19th, 2006 We were glad to see so many Doors Experience fans at our concerts in Halle and Magdeburg last weekend, some of which have driven hundreds of miles to get there. They came from as far as Hungary, the Netherlands, Belgium, Great Britain, Switzerland, the Tyrol, Vienna and from every corner in Germany just to see us play.

We'd like to thank you for the many enthusiastic guestbook entries on our page and on www.feastoffriends.de. By the way we are always interested in your pictures of our performance. Some pics of the Halle concert are already on-line.

July 13th, 2006 Just as promised a gallery of our concert at the Treibhaus (Innsbruck, July 7th) is on-line now.

July 12th, 2006 We are pleased with your appreciation in our guestbook and forum. Right after the concert the promoter of the Treibhaus booked us for another date, which will be Dec 30th, 2006. "Treibhaus Innsbruck - the time you ran was too insane, we'll meet again, we'll meet again!"

Pics of the concert soon to come.

July 10th, 2006 Innsbruck's top location, The Treibhaus (which means greenhouse), was just that last friday. A great audience and a hot atmosphere, in which it was an enrmous pleasure to play.

The upcoming weekend has us play German cities Halle and Magdeburg (Feast of Friends 2).

July 5th, 2006 "Rock at the Creek" in Mitterpullendorf was initially planned just for July 29th, but has now been extended to a two days festival. Click on the flyer to see the entire line-up.

June 29th, 2006 myspace is a much-used internet platform in the Anglo-American area and far beyond. Fans from the US established a Doors Experience fan site there, which is visitted frequently and has a lot of interesting and heart-felt statements by its visitor. Plus our mp3s from myspace have been listened to more than 315.000 times now. Unbelievable but true! An omen?                                                                                                              hhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
June 28th, 2006 We've just received the entire line-up for the Rock at the Creek Festival in Mitterpullendorf (Burgenland) on July 29th.                                                                                                   kkkkk
May 25th, 2006 "Pictures speak clearer than words!" At our 4th concert in Zagreb, Croatia, about 1.000 enthusiastic fans put the whole club and us into fantastic spirits. It was a great experience to see that also after 3 years so many croatian people share our special DOORS EXPERIENCE!

A little choice of emotional pictures is online now. hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

May 23rd, 2006 We are proudly to present a brand new video clip of us. Film makers Mario Schleichel and Reinhard Allé did an excellent job with their creative cinematic work for our soundfile of "Break on through". It's worth dipping into their personal "Doors Experience" world, so don't miss to watch this clip. We look forward to your feedbacks.

May 17th, 2006 As a late arrival we have a set of pics of our Salzburg concert from April 2006. Andreas Eppensteiner pleases us with his flash creations, we say thanks for them!             mmmmmmmmm

April 4th, 2006 The "Legends of Rock" Festival in Wiesen had to be moved from July 8th to July 7th, so that we cannot play, because we are already booked for the Treibhaus in Innsbruck on the 7th. But our concert in Wiesen is not cancelled. The promoter and we are trying to find a new date, which we will inform you of ASAP.

For September 14th we were booked for the OST club in Vienna, one of the hippest locations at the moment.

In Apetlon we found a great audience. The whole scene was captured on video by filmmakers Mario Scheichel and Reinhard Allé. We hope to be able to show you some stills of it soon.

Due to the 40 years jubilee of Salzburg's youth and culture club MARK we will play a free concert there this Friday night.                                                                      HHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Jan. 10th, 2006 Objekt 5, Halle an der Saale, Georg Friedrich Haendels birthtown in Germany - a place to remember for us. The entire team of the Objekt 5 club made us feel comfortable, perfect sound, professional technical maintenace, a sold out event in front of an ecstatic audience comprising of fans that came from all over Germany (they travelled as far as from Bavaria, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Dresen, Berlin) - everything was in its place on the evening of January 7th. Thanks to everyone who has been there.

As soon as we get ahold of some pics, we will show you.                                             ööööööö

Jan. 5th, 2006 The Doors Experience wish you all a very Happy and successful New Year! We’ve just come back from a hard but satisfying weeking in Lustenau and Zurich. More than 900 heavily partying fans have seen us on these occasions and welcomed the New Year together with us. What a start for our sixth year as The Doors Experience!

On January 7th we will play in Germany again, in Haendel’s birthtown Halle, where we play the Objekt 5 club. We are looking forward to meeting our true German fans again and wish for them to become even more.

What had happened during the passed year is listed and commented in the following annual review.                                                                                                        ngnggnnggngn

Annual review 2005

2005 was a very moving year for us. We started with a great sell-out concert in Salzburg’s Rock House. We played out third Zagreb concert, again in front of more than 1000 ecstatic fans, but this time in a new location, the Boogaloo. In May we played or first headlining set in Vienna’s most favourable rock venue, Planet Music, during one of the beloved “Rock Classic Night”. 2005 saw another Doors Celebration Spring Tour through Switzerland and some open-air concerts in summer. The penultimate experience of the summer was our appearance at the “Feast of Friends” festival in Heyrothsberge near Magdeburg, a big festival with about 1000 Doors experts as our audience and two other Doors tribute bands. We played the finale, mainly consisting of songs from “Morrison Hotel” and “L. A. Woman”. Many warm reactions by Doors connoisseurs received us after the festival, which you can read amongst our press reviews – watch out for the abbreviation “FoF” there.

In December we played an evening in collaboration with author Peter Henisch, who wrote the best selling novel “Morrison’s Hideaway”. The last two days of the year were also concert days for us. An emotionally packed appearance at the “Culture Factor Y” club in Lustenau and the Doors Celebration Night on New Year’s Eve in Zurich again. There we had the “Riders On The Storm” bring us and more than 800 excited fans into the New Year 2006.

We could extend our repertoire list again in 2006 and improved our original Doors sound again. In summer René started to take along his Spanish guitar to all our concerts, gracing the song “Spanish Caravan” with his masterful playing on it ever since.

In September Jason took a trip to Paris and brought a long a very personal report (in German) of his trip, sharing his deep thoughts with us.

Loads of feedback, press reviews, pics and stuff were added to our homepage in 2005, plus we were able to set up a new forum after quite a break.

On this occasion we’d like to thank all of you who came to our concerts in 2005 and made us all feel the good vibes. We are looking forward to meeting you again in 2006!      llllllöööö
