Annual review 2010

As usual we started our 10th year of touring as THE DOORS EXPERIENCE in Zurich at the New Years Eve Doors Celebration with hundreds of enthusiastic fans, who came from all Swiss counties, France, Germany, Western Austria, Italy, France, Croatia and other countries. But this time we didn’t play in the Alte Kaserne, but in the very famous Volkshaus Zurich (where Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger had played themselves 3 years ago with Riders On The Storm).

Same procedure as every year: The Zagreb Boogaloo was packed with the most frenetic crowd. The same went for MMC Salvija, a former cinema in Osijek. The only sad fact is, that our big flag with our band logo on it has disappeared without a trace after the Osijek show. We are pretty sure that it now decorates an enthusiastic fan's bedroom.

In summer we played as headliners on the “Feast of Friends”, Europe’s biggest Doors festival again. The day before we had a totally sold out concert in Halle.

On two concerts in Vienna we had John Lee Harper joining us on blues harp for Roadhouse Blues and Gloria.

Our new drummer Gerhard Tscherwizek, a long-term friend of the band and especially Klaus and René, who he played with frequently over the past 20 years. replacedd our dear Christoph Zauchinger, who withdrew from playing live after almost 10 years in this group and almost 20 years of playing alongside Jason and Klaus.

Due to many requests we had our fan t-shirts also produced in 6 small sizes for children, whereas 7 sizes for grown-ups from S to 4XL are available as well. Plus we had a second button designed, showing our lead singer Jason. T-Shirts and buttons are available at our concerts or just write an e-mail to presse@thedoors.at

A lot is happening on our youtube-site www.youtube.com/baronlejois, where our songs have been downloaded more than half a million times up to now. Download figures of songs on www.myspace.com/thedoorsexperience have risen enormously once more. At the end of the year we counted 2.7 million downloads. Plus there is still Tihana’s Official Doors Experience Fan Site on myspace and our Facebook-Fanseite, where most of the new concert pics can be found. Plus contests and rare video clips, which are not even on youtube.

We are looking forward to seeing you again during our tour 2011, which is going to be a remarkable year. 40 years ago Jim died under mysterious circumstances, 45 years ago The Doors recorded their legendary self-titled debut album, an finally 10 years ago The Doors Experience started playing live.

On September 17th, 2011, we will play in Hard in Vorarlberg again, where we played to a completely sold out Kammgarn club on December 29th, 2009. Many fans were sent home, because they couldn’t get any tickets. Therefore this next concert will be in a bigger location, called Thaler Areal, next to the Bodensee.

Frequent concert attenders in and around Vienna have witnessed a new face in the band taking over drum duties for some songs. That’s Gerhard Tscherwizek, a long-term friend of the band and especially Klaus and René, who he played with frequently over the past 20 years. He will replace our dear Christoph Zauchinger, who will withdraw from playing live after almost 10 years in this group and almost 20 years of playing alongside Jason and Klaus.

Jim Morrison died in 1971, so 40 years on, in 2011 there will be a lot of Doors activity. Plus The Doors Experience celebrates 10 years of its existence. Some concert dates have been fixed for 2011, and they keep rolling in furthermore.

For 2010 we also have a busy schedule playing Slovenian concerts in November and December, too. Just have a look here.

Poland, Hungaria, Czech Republic, England, Scotland, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria plus each and every corner of Germany – that’s where fans came from to see us in sold-out Halle club “Objekt 5” and on Europe’s biggest Doors Festival “Feast of Friends” last weekend. We enjoyed ourselves as much as you did!

We are looking forward to playing the Innsbruck Treibhaus once more this Saturday (July 10th). The concert starts after 10 pm, so that you have the opportunity to to enjoy the public viewing of the soccer world championship game on a big screen right there just before the concert. Because school's out for summer on this weekend, we are playing a free concert, so make sure you'll be there on time!

When school's up for summer in the Western part of Austria, we'll be there once more for you to celebrate with us. This year it will be Saturday, July 10^th , when we will play the Innbruck Treibhaus again.

Our concert at the 10th anniversary of the Flower Power Festival in Winterthur was successful. Fans came travelling from Germany, Austria, France, Italy, even Croatia as well as from several Swiss counties.

Trivia has it, that we had breakfast together with the Skatalites from Jamaica (founded in 1963) and the legendary Buena VIsta Social Club from Cuba, who slept at the same hotel as we did and also gave concerts in Winterthur during the Whitsun weekend.

On Saturday, July 24th 2010, we will be headlining the 10th Rock Night in Schwechat near Vienna.

Quite a few additional concert dates for the next weeks and months are on their way. One of them has been confirmed now. We are really looking forward to playing our fourth concert at the Objekt 5 club in Halle an der Saale, Haendels place of birth, on Friday, July 30.

On April 30 we played at the Szene Wien in Vienna. Special guest was John Lee Harper on blues harp. You can see him perform with us on Roadhouse Blues and Gloria in these youtube clips. The third one is the great finale of the show, Light My Fire.

Two more concert dates have been added. On November 13th, we will play at the culture club Böröm pöm pöm in Oberentfelden / Switzerland. On April 29th, 2011 (!) we will be on-stage at the Kunsthaus Nexus in Saalfelden / Salzburg.

Loads of good news: On Jula 31st we'll be - after a hiatus of some years - headlining the Feast of Friends once more, Europe's biggest Doors festival in Heyrothsberge near Magdeburg. We are looking forward to play at the lovely festival site located all around the legendary Bunker Musik Kneipe Club. Details to be announced soon.

On Fridav, November 5th, we will play the Maribor Stuk for the third time. A location you all know from the arte TV documentary "Jim Morrison lebt".

Three more concert dates have been addded: on June 3rd we will play the Vienna Reigen, on September 24th we'll be at the Backstage club in Wiener Neustadt once more. An on March 5th, 2011, we will play at the Luckyman Concerts in Garching an der Alz / Bavaria for the second time, in the big ballroom of the Gasthaus zum Bräu, which we had sold out last year.

Our concert at the Szene Wien / Vienna has been rescheduled 4 weeks earlier and is now on Friday, April 30th. We are looking forward to playing there for the third time.

On September 18th we will play a location in Bavaria, near Passau: Rockcafé Groll in Neukirchen vorm Walde.

In October we will play a three days tour of the Netherlands. The first concert will be on Ocotber 22nd in Uden at De Pul, a hot location, which will be rocked by us for the third time in total then.

This year’s concert at the Zagreb Boogaloo has been confirmed for March 12th now. We are looking forward to playing for Europe’s hottest crowd again.

On Friday, May 21st, we will play the Salzhaus club in Winterthur /Switzerland for the very first time.

In 2008 we played our first concert in France, the land where Jim decayed and lies buried. We can now present you about 10 minutes of footage from that concert in Meisenthal on youtube.

Loads of new video clips are on youtube: a „Best of Innsbruck Treibhaus“, compiled by Jason himself, Break On Through (as filmed by Loïc Duliscouët in Innsbruck), L.A. Woman (as filmed by Loïc Duliscouët in Zurich) – all from our recent New Year’s Tour.

Loads of action on and in front of the stage were captured on video by Loïc Duliscouët, when he filmed Strange Days as performed by us in Rijeka in Spring 2009.

In 2005 we played the Zagreb Boogaloo for the first time. From our archives Jason managed to save The Oedipal Section from The End out of this performance.

The year 2009 was closed almost like it was started: in the tightly packed Innsbruck Treibhaus, at the totally sold out Kammgarn club in Hard, and instead of the Alte Kaserne this time at the very famous Volkshaus Zurich (where Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger had played themselves 3 years ago with Riders On The Storm).

European TV channel arte and German highly respected ZDF theatre channel aired the documentary „Jim Morrison lebt” (Jim Morrison is alive) several times, which starts off with footage of our concerts in Austria and Slovenia. Plus it features interviews with Jason “Jim” Boiler and enthusiastic fans.

Our tour year is well documented on www.thedoors.at, where we also reworked the navigation bar, re-opened the forum plus added new galleries and press reviews.
