2003 in retrospect |
The third year of our
existence marked another important step in our carreer: concerts outside
Austria. We are espacially proud of these concerts being so successful,
tool: more than thousand enthusiastic fans in Zagreb, and a host of
well-known German Doors fans and experts at our concert in Heidelberg.
We also played the east-most and the west-most counties of Austria, we
shared the stage with Hansi Lang, Harri Stolka, Lyyne Kieran and the
Hallucination Company at the Picture-on Festival. Plus we played
Europe’s biggest open air, Vienna’s Danube Island Festival, where we
appeared on one of the largest stages. Plus we also had an unforgettable
night celebrating Jim’s 60th birthday.
With Herman Draxler, who joined us in December 2002, we haven’t just
simply found a tallented, energy loaden bass player, but also a friend
you can rely on. Not only did he learn all the songs from our repertoire,
we were also able to add 8 Doors songs to our current set list.
We will continue to work hard in 2004, that’s what we promise. If you
take a look at the tour dates of our
European Tour 2004,
you will seethat we will push our limits even forward. We’d like to
thank you for your support and hope you will continue to come to our
concerts and help spread the word of Jim and The Doors. Happy New Year
from "THE DOORS EXPERIENCE"! |
|
The final concert for this
year's tour is over. Thanks to all of you who came to Vienna's legendary
"Krah, Krah" club for this occasion and watch the
pictures here.
Band and webmaster have time for vacation now, but we will also continue
rehearsals to learn more Doors songs and keep on work on our homepage.
You will be able to see new features soon, so click back regularly.
Our European Tour 2004 will start with two concerts in Eastern and
Southern Tyrol (Italy)
(see
Tour Dates).
Maybe some concerts before these two will be added. Anyway the tour will
continue with concerts in Germany, Slovenia, Croatia and Austria.

A new
press link
has just arrived.
If you want to celebrate Jim's 60th birthday with your personal
favourite Doors song, you can do so by picking one from our vast
repertoire.
Write us an e-mail to
doors@thedoors.at containing that song,
so that we can make sure to play it for you at the Hawidere on the 8th

who helped us a lot during this concert.
Hot from the press is an article in

|
Sept. 26th 2003 |
As many of you
recognized, we started our Heidelberg concert with a recording of Tomaso
Albinoni's Adagio, Jim's favourite piece of music. The Doors recorded a
version of this piece on American Prayer. We will start our next concert
on the 27th of September at Vienna's Davis the same way.
More concert dates are on their
way: November 27th 2003 will bring us back to St. Pölten's "Kuckucksnest",
whereas September 11th 2004 is already reserved for a gig at the
"Kulturschmiede" in Gresten. (see

Our Heidelberg
concert caused many entries in our
guestbook.
Some of the biggest and most famous Doors experts of Germany were there:
Angelika & Uwe Huhn (www.doors-online.de),
Helga & Gernot Freudenberger (www.doors.happymountain.de),
Peter Linde, Paul of the Palmyra edition (editor of many Doors books
www.palmyra-verlag.de),
and our true Anne "Lizard Queen" Ruf, who showed us round Heidelberg the
very next day. Webmaster Hans Böhm presents some
pictures
here. We are
looking forward to playing at Vienna's legendary Davis club again on
September 27th and hope to get another excellent recording of our
performance there. Most of our
mp3s are taken from our last concert at
this club.
In the meantime we were booked
for a concert in Carinthia again - we play the "Wriesnik" at St. Paul im
Lavanttal on November 8th.
|
Sept. 8th 2003 |
This weeks concert
in Heidelberg's
Schwimmbad-Music-Club Heidelberg
(September 13th) will be attended by some of Germany's most outstanding
Doors fans. We are looking forward to that "get together" and have added
another song to our repertoire, the much requested Hyacinth House.
On December 13th we will play the
"Krah, Krah", a well-known club in Vienna's Bermuda triangle.

think about us!
We leave for our first concert
in Heidelberg /Germany next week and were just booked for a big festival
in Postojna / Slovenia for August 2004.
Another souvenir of our gig in
Zagreb is available here: a video clip of
L. A. Woman.

the event here. Thank you, Hans! |

Our next concert, which

Austrian press.

After two
and a half years, which is how long our website exists, we reached our
100.000th hit these days. We´d like to thank you for your loyalty and
constant interest. We promise many more exciting concerts and reports for
your forthcoming 100.000 visits. Thanks folks! The
press wrote
one thing or the other about us in July.
From now on we have to
video-files available, Roadhouse Blues and
Break On Through. We reduced the solution to 360x288 to provide a
short download time.
Towards the end of August a DVD spanning our legendary Zagreb
concert will be available. We are all looking forward to that.

only a ticket for the big festival site has to be paid (€ 3,-). |
July 3rd 2003 |
Last night we celebrated
the 32nd anniversary of Jim's death in Vienna. There was a matching
atmosphere at the legendary Camera-Club. We played our longest concert
ever, 31 songs in all - that's what we owed to Jim and to our true fans.
You can see some
pics
here.
From now on our whole website is bilingual. If you want to see the
German version,
just click here.

Hundreds of people were
watching and listening yesterday when we played
Vienna's Danube Island Festival.

www.thedoors.at
- thanks for that!
We are currently working on an english version of our entire website.
Jason's

Klaus's
page are already bilingual.
We added "Wishful Sinful" and "Queen of The Highway" to our
repertoire
due to some requests. |
June 5th 2003 |
We were booked by
Vienna's club "Hawidere" for another date on the
18th of October,
in addition to Jim's 60th birthday party which will also take place there
on the 8th of December. |
May 30th 2003 |
The concert and
press party in Vienna's "Szene Wien" on the 4th of June had to be
cancelled as a result of the big strikes and demonstrations against the current
conservative Austrian policy. We understand the promoters' decision and
look forward to playing on the
Danube Island Festival. |
May 28th 2003 |
Here are further
pics from Zagreb (Lady Jane).
And more of what the
press had to say. Plus we have another
concert
date added, on September 13th we will play Heidelberg/Germany.

May 23rd 2003 |
ZAGREB/Croatia, 10 pm, doors
open. Doors videos are shown on a giant screen. At first there were only a
handful of fans in the great concert hall of the Rock Club Pauk, located
in the center of the Zagreb University Campus. The fans sing along
perfectly with every song played on the videos.
11 pm, the concert hall starts
to fill, about 300 people were expected by the promoter.
But then, the promoter postpones
our going on stage for ten minutes time and time again, while we don't know
why. Until Klaus sneaks out the back door to take a last deep breath of
fresh air in the big
campus.
We couldn't believe what we saw there; a never ending queue of countless
fans waiting in line to get tickets for the club patiently and disciplined.
11.30 pm, inside the concert hall, tightly packed with more than 1000 people, we start the show. When Jason
entered the stage, there was an uproar going
through the crowd. We all had shivers up and down our spine.
Fans bursting out in cheers at
the very start of each an every song, hundreds of voices singing along
every single word. A unique experience, a great time for everyone involved,
never ending ovations, scenes that reminded us of the 1960s.
Thanks to all of you who came to
see us. Thanks to the promoter Pishta, who, as a surplus, showed us all
around Zagreb the very next day.
Here you see some photographies of the
concert. Further material will be updated in a few days!

May 21st 2003 |
We were booked as headliners for a big
event in Vienna's legendary "Szene Wien" on June 4th. This evening is a
promotional event for the big "Donauinselfest" (Vienna's Danube Island
Fesival), which is Europe's biggest annual open air festival. We also play
that festival this year. Our stage is called
"Pendlerbühne"
(commuter's stage).
We have new pics of our recent
concerts in Vorarlberg:
Hard,
KULTURWERKSTATT Kammgarn
+ Feldkirch, LUCKY SALOON.
Klaus visited Berlin recently and made
it to Berlin's one and only Doors pub, the
"Seelenküche",
which is German for "Soul Kitchen". It's a place of worship for European
Doors fans. Klaus brought some Doors Experience gifts to Jürgen Schuschke,
owner of the pub, who in return gave us a signed copy of the
"Jim Morrison Complete Paris Guide"

April 27th 2003 |

More pics of our gig at the Davis.
Andreas "Eisi" Eisler sent us some great and
colourful shoots.
Thanks for that!
TOP NEWS:
Concert requests from abroad reach us
regularly. Our first gig out of Austria will be at Croatia's number one
rock club "Pauk"
in Zagreb. We're looking forward to playing there. There are some remarks
from the local
press regarding
our forthcoming gig. Thankfully we are supported by
Mobilkom Austria / VIPnet
Croatia
for this concert.

April 15th 2003 |

club. Here you can see the
stunning result.
